Good morning,
My name is Jason Lasseigne, and I am an LSU graduate that has recently partnered in the creation of an officially licensed collegiate children’s books series. The series is entitled, That’s Not Our Mascot, and includes 14 individual books for each of the SEC schools and mascots. Each book is unique to the specific school and its mascot, but includes all the mascots from the other 13 SEC schools as well. The LSU book is called Mike the Tiger is Our Mascot and it combines the LSU fan’s school spirit and pride in the SEC with their kids’ love for their mascot in a unique way. Our series is published through Mascot Books, a publisher of collegiate licensed books.

Our goal is to partner with all of the LSU Alumni Association Chapters in an effort to share the book with the LSU Alumni family and to help raise money for the LSU Alumni Association Scholarships fund. We’d like to donate 20% of the profits from our website sales of Mike the Tiger is Our Mascot in which the LSU code (LSUALUM) is used at the time of purchase. In order to maximize the sales from using this code and ultimately the amount donated to the LSU Alumni Association Scholarships fund, we are asking all chapter presidents to encourage their chapter members to go to www.thatsnotourmascot.com and use the LSU code (LSUALUM) at the time of purchase. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like more information.

Thanks and Geaux Tigers!
Jason Lasseigne

Tickets to the annual SEC Picnic are now on sale! https://lsudenver.com/tickets-to-the-annual-sec-picnic-are-now-on-sale/ Wed, 24 Jul 2013 07:31:02 +0000 https://lsudenver.com/?p=223 Continue reading ]]> Clear your calendar for Saturday, August 24th, because it’s time again to say the ultimate goodbye to summer and hello to football season, SEC style! Last year was the biggest SEC Picnic ever, with more than 700 SEC fans (and 40 LSU Fans) in attendance. Let’s try to top that this year.

Where:
Due to the addition of Texas A&M and Mizzou to our conference, this year we will be located again at Mamie D. Eisenhower Park, located at the intersection of Colorado Blvd. and Dartmouth Ave. (If you were in attendance last year, this is that same park.)

When:
The fun will start at noon on Saturday, August 24th. Food service will be from 12:30PM-2:30PM.

The Food:
Again this year our caterer will be Jim N’ Nick’s BBQ. Your ticket gets you pork and chicken BBQ, three sides, bread dessert, and tea or water. If you’re of legal drinking age, you also get all the complimentary beer you like. Kids ages 10 and under are free, but we have to have an accurate head count for them.

How to buy your tickets:
In order to partake in the BBQ and complimentary beer, there is a small cost involved. This year, it’s $15 per adult. As I said before, kids ages 10 and under are free, though we need to have an accurate count. (Your $15 gets your BBQ plate and unlimited beer, but also helps pay for our park permits, tables and chairs, rental of “facilities”, and a small amount to the Ole Miss Colorado Club to help out with materials and events for the year.)

You can pay two ways:

 1. Now you can simply purchase your ticket through the LSU Denver Alumni through this link: https://lsudenver.com/event/sec-picnic/. Please make sure to indicate how many adults and children you’re RSVPing for in the “Note to seller” box in the check-out page.
 2. Please make checks payable to LSU Denver, Inc. and indicate how many adults and children you are paying for in the notes of the check. The check needs to be mailed to Colette Gagnet, 707 17th Street ste. 3200, Denver, CO 80202

DEADLINE:
We MUST have your RSVP and payment by 9PM, Wednesday, August 7th, if you will be partaking of the BBQ and the complimentary beverages. Because of our numbers and our permits, there will be a very limited amount of walk up tickets that will be sold using a first come first serve basis.

Ticket Pick Up:
You will be able to pick up the tickets starting at 11:30am on August 24th at the park. Please remember to bring a valid ID if you will be drinking the complimentary beer.

What’s new in 2013 https://lsudenver.com/whats-new-in-2013/ Mon, 11 Mar 2013 03:29:30 +0000 http://174.132.104.2/~lsudenco/?p=109 Continue reading ]]> Hey LSU Denver,

I have a few announcements for the coming year.

First: We are continuing down the road of becoming a non-profit. In doing so, I made up a board of directors, established committee chairs, and have had the board adopt bylaws. The committee chairs will head up the events. Of course, they will need your help. So if you are interested in volunteering for a committee please email them directly. Their LSU Denver email address is below. I have the utmost confidence in each of these individuals and I truly believe they will bring our organization to where it needs to be.

Board:
President – Shane Larisey ([email protected])
President Elect – Suzan Patrick
Secretary – Destin Sims
Treasurer – Colette Sutely ([email protected])
Alumni Relations – Kristy Howell
Member at Large – Keisha Rubalcaba
Member at Large – Chet Marshall

Committees:
Game Chairman – Keisha Rubalcaba ([email protected])
Gumbo Cook Off Chairman – Chet Marshall ([email protected])
Crawfish Boil Chairman – Destin and William Sims ([email protected])
Mardi Gras Ball Chairman – Suzan Patrick ([email protected])
T-Shirts and Paraphernalia – Garrett Sutley
Webmaster – Andrea Merida ([email protected])

Second: The position of president and president elect is to be a 1 year position. After a year, the president elect will take over as president. In it’s current role, the president elect will be assisting the president with all the events and activities throughout the year. All other committees and positions will be held for two years unless there are extenuating circumstances preventing said person from finishing out their term. It will be best to have a committee chair have an assistant that will take over at the end of the chair term. This, of course, will be the responsibility of the committee chair.

If everything I have set up is followed this will eliminate the pressure of one person doing all the work. This way, the board and committee chairs are equally as responsible as the president. Work as a team and LSU Denver will continue to grow and become the best non-profit organization LSU has.

Third: It saddens me to say this but I’m moving to Houston for my job. I will still be acting as president until August and will be at all of our events. Suzan Patrick will take over as president at the beginning of football season. She is a die hard LSU fan and a very successful, and well organized, event planner. She has served on the game committee this past year and will be heading up the mardi gras ball committee for next year’s mardi gras ball.

Other things to think about for the coming year:

Currently we have two LSU Bars in Colorado. One in Denver (Blake Street Tavern), one in Colorado Springs (BooDad’s Beach House Grill). If you know of a location in the Ft Collins area that would like to host LSU games, please let me know. The “official” bar will still be in Denver but I understand it is not ideal for FTC and COS LSU fans to drive to Denver every weekend.

Volunteers are always welcomed. With the new organization volunteering will be a lot more fun and the work will be spread out. If you have already volunteered, I have you on my list. That list will be distributed to the committee chairs.

Thank you everyone for all your support over the last year. It’s because of you I have been able to accomplish so much in so little time. You keep me motivated!

That’s all for now! If I have missed something please let me know.

Sincerely,

Shane Larisey

outgoing President
